What is cranio-sacral massage?
Cranio-sacral massage involves stimulating and massaging the cranio-sacral system, which protects the brain and spinal cord and consists of the bones and membranes of the head and spine. The brain depends on this system to function and develop. Cranio-sacral massage involves light touches to the head, upper neck, and spine by a massage therapist. The goal of cranio-sacral massage is to release restrictions and compressions of the system so that the body is better able to heal itself. Holistic dentistry uses oral health practices to improve overall health. We offer cranio-sacral massage as a complementary therapy to our oral health treatments to benefit your total wellbeing.
How is a cranio-sacral massage beneficial?
Many proponents of cranio-sacral massage believe that this method of therapy can treat a wide range of health problems. For example, some therapists believe that cranio-sacral massage helps relieve symptoms associated with migraines, TMJ dysfunction, coordination problems, eye problems, spine misalignment, and disorders where chronic pain is present.
Cranio-sacral massage may promote a faster healing time, improve patient blood flow, and ease discomfort associated with oral surgery. We provide cranio-sacral massage before and after procedures such as wisdom tooth extraction upon patient request.
